Born in Florida on July 31, 1980, Cory Simmons, an Atlanta Attorney, attended Florida State University, earning a Bachelor’s in Philosophy and Theater. During his time at FSU, Cory actively participated in leadership programs and was recognized as a Florida Bright Futures Scholar for his academic achievements.
After completing his undergraduate studies, Cory pursued his law degree at Florida Coastal School of Law. He quickly gained recognition for his academic success and passion for the legal field there. Cory was involved in the Moot Court Honor Board and participated in mock trial competitions, where he honed his public speaking and legal argumentation skills. He won the National Moot Court Competition in 2005 and earned the Best Oralist title in the Prince Evidence Competition in 2006.
After earning his Juris Doctor in 2007, Cory Simmons began his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney in the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida. He worked on various cases, from misdemeanors to serious felonies, and led 18 trials, securing 12 guilty verdicts. This experience gave him valuable insights into courtroom strategies, case management, and trial preparation.
In 2009, Cory shifted his focus to civil litigation and joined The Law Offices of Robert Shafer & Associates as a Senior Associate. He represented clients in various civil cases, including criminal defense, civil forfeitures, and personal injury claims. Later, Cory worked at Baumann, Gant & Keeley, P.A., managing professional liability and construction defect cases.
In 2016, Cory joined Morgan & Morgan P.A. as a Lead Attorney and Partner in the Business Trial Group. He led the firm’s commercial litigation efforts in North Florida and Georgia, representing clients in complex business disputes, including breach of contract and securities litigation. His success in these cases earned him several accolades, including “Attorney of the Year” in 2015.
In October 2024, Cory Simmons became Managing Partner at Spizzirri Law, LLC, a boutique commercial litigation firm in Metro Atlanta. He oversees the firm’s operations and leads various complex business litigation cases.
Outside work, Cory Simmons enjoys volunteering with organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters and participating in local events such as McKenzie’s Run 5K.
